Pocos pueden presumir que llegaron a 50 años de carrera profesional y aún más al mostrar una cara distinta en cada producción en donde una nueva ciudad, colaborador, concepto o incluso un simple look abre las posibilidades.
David Bowie no quiere dejar pasar en alto esto y por ello decidió hacer la recopilación definitiva de su carrera en Nothing Has Changed, título inspirado del tema “Sunday” en donde hábilmente retoma un concepto tan sencillo como mirarse al espejo en diferentes épocas de su carrera para usarlo de portada en sus diferentes versiones que habrá. La idea corrió a cargo de Jonathan Barnbrook, quien ha diseñado sus últimas tres portadas el cual comentó al respecto:
Hay algo muy poderoso alrededor del arquetipo que el espejo nos brinda, además de ser un aset plenamente identificable que deja claro que esta es una colección de canciones vistas a través de la experiencia de vida de una persona, no necesariamente un concepto “lineal” que generalmente este tipo de discos guardan
En esta compilación aparecerán canciones inéditas o en versiones especiales: desde “Let Me Sleep Beside You” la cual fue grabada en 1970 y en el año 2000 se relanzó; “Shadow Man” de 1971 la cual apareció como un lado B; “Your Turn To Drive” el cual no quedó dentro del álbum Reality; “Wild Is The Wind” el cual fue lanzado originalmente en el DVD Station To Station Deluxe box set; una nueva versión de “Young Americans” hecha en 5.1 en el año 2007; “All The Young Dudes” hecha por el propio David para Mott The Hoople; y la nueva versión de “Life On Mars?” hecha para el 40 aniversario de su lanzamiento.
Aprovechando este lanzamiento, grabó en este verano una nueva canción llamada “Sue (Or In A Season Of Crime)” la cual fue grabada con Maria Schneider Orchestra con su productor y compañero Tony Visconti.
